La Polar is a leading department store focused on low-to-mid income consumers in Chile. The company was acquired in 1998 through a debt restructuring process and, working alongside management, Southern Cross implemented a successful focused strategy to target the mid to low income segments with an affordable product mix and aggressively expand the store count. La Polar was sold in 2003.
